The primary purpose of this safety training is to ensure that your employees are protected from accidental or unexpected activation of mechanical and/or electrical equipment during maintenance, repairing, cleaning, servicing, or adjusting of prime movers, machinery, or equipment. It is unfortunate that 95% of all lockout-tagout citations involve the failure to have a formal Energy Control Program in place.
Lockout-Tagout still remains near the top of OSHA's list of most frequently violated standard. This training guide covers the energy control techniques where the unexpected energization or start up of equipment, or release of stored energy could cause injury.
